St Clair Township – CBDG Road Paving
Point Design Group was contracted by St. Clair Township in Westmoreland County to provide engineering design and construction period services on three roadway widening and surfacing projects within the Township.
The 14-foot wide bridge reconnects the Ohio & Erie Canal towpath at a location where an aqueduct once transported canal boats over the river. The reemergence of the towpath as a recreational corridor was the driving force in providing this safe passage along this section of the towpath.
Point Design Group was the design engineer for the new Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail Tuscarawas River Aqueduct Bridge. This new bridge spans over the Tuscarawas River from Bethlehem Township in Stark County to Lawrence Township in Tuscarawas County. The 14-foot wide bridge reconnects the Ohio & Erie Canal towpath at a location where an aqueduct once transported canal boats over the river. The reemergence of the towpath as a recreational corridor was the driving force in providing this safe passage along this section of the towpath. Plans were prepared for the construction of the bridge and about 1/2 mile of trail work. This is an LPA project administered by the Stark County Park District and coordinated with ODOT District 11.
Our staff worked closely with the park and ODOT Environmental Services to minimize impacts to the existing canal and aqueduct features. We also performed the right-of-way research and field survey, and Right-of-Way plans for the project. The project received a Federal Grant for construction.

Point Design Group identified alternatives that not only improved the pavement conditions, drainage, and lighting on the Akron-Canton Airport entrance road and parking areas but also reduced congestion in front of the terminal and simplified ingress and egress.

This project marks Ohio’s first “Contraflow” bike lane and Stark County’s first dedicated bike lane. Point Design Group received three awards for this Canton, Ohio project, in 2014.

Point Design Group team was hired by the Stark Park District to complete the planning and design for this bridge over IR-77 that reconnects the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath between Fort Laurens in Bolivar and the Village of Zoar.

Point Design Group teamed with H.R. Gray of Akron, Ohio, for this new $9.9 million Downtown Transformation Design-Build Project.
